Use the Opportunity Offered by a Fire to Rob Others …

‘Victory is gained by benefiting from the misfortunes of an opponent.’

During the overthrow of the Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644 A.D.) The bandit Li’s army had swept through  most of China causing the Emperor to hang himself once they had entered Beijing’s Forbidden Palace.  Li then declared himself the Emperor of the whole of China.

General Wu who was stationed at Shanhaiguan at the beginning of the Great Wall was preparing to surrender when he heard his beloved concubine was captured and being held by the bandit.

In his thirst for revenge and fury he turned to the N.E. Manchurians who were considered to be Chinese subjects. Although they had been treated very badly by the Ming Court in the past the Manchurians like a hungry tiger had long been waiting for this opportunity and led by General Wu, charged into China and in a few days destroyed Li.

The Manchurians had taken advantage of the internal dissention and used General Wu’s rage towards Li to enter China and remain as conquerors.

This brought about the end of the Ming Dynasty and established the Ching Dynasty.
