Welcome to our country …
Here in the land of the all-together,
There comes a message from the never-never,
Welcoming us with open hand,
With smoking ceremonies thought to be grand,
Welcoming us to their great land!
Now most of us in the all-together,
Have been enduring this call from the never-never,
Failing any effort to keep us together,
And its list of obligations to last forever!
Now smoking ceremonies, with waiting crowd,
Have messages long with digeridoo sound,
Aided by dance for the impatient crowd,
‘Welcome to country’, this casts a shroud.
Is this part of reconciliation?
The pathway sought for a divided nation,
Paid lip-service in political creation,
And played continuously by media stations,
Before all events, to create frustration.
