The Alex Haight Report: Another Two Big milestones this round

Alex Haight, Reporting

Congratulations to Lachlan Harty who will run out for 100th game for the mighty Kalamunda Cougars this weekend against North Fremantle at Ray Owen reserve at 3:05pm.

A tough combative player who gets the job done with no fuss. Has been known to lay some hard hitting bumps to opposition players where you can hear the crack of the impact from the other side of the ground. It leaves the spectators almost feeling it, cringing and saying to themselves “That’s gotta hurt”.

Strength in defense …

A reliable defender who often plays outsized against seasoned veteran players and beats them regularly. Takes on the tough kicks and makes it look all too easy. Once played out the game with a broken leg and then remarkably returned to play six weeks later like it was nothing.

Well done Lachy on your achievement and I’m sure there will be many more games to come.

Have a great day tomorrow and get the win!!

Massive congratulations to Jason Currie who will become the 21st player in our club history to notch up 200 club games for the mighty Kalamunda Cougars when he storms out tomorrow at Ray Owen Reserve at 1.10pm.

After a stint at the Perth Demons, Jason ‘Cuz’ Currie started his playing career at Kalamunda way back in 2008. A cool, calm and collected player who brings great leadership and stability. He is ever reliable down in the back line, but is capable of playing multiple roles for the team. An incredibley smart footy nous player who is all class.

‘Cuz’ in command …

Has had his fair share of ups and downs over the journey. A few to mention are, in 2012 he suffered a frightening badly fractured skull against Fremantle CBC. This was a major setback for him and many players would call it quits after an incident like this, but not Cuz. He endured, persevered and returned to play the following season and has put this injury behind him. This very humble player has stuck with the club over the years through thick and thin and was an integral player in the 2010 league side’s season where he became a premiership player in an unforgettable grand final win over Scarborough.

He has featured predominantly and polled highly in his team’s best and fairest counts over the years and is a club stalwart and much loved player of the community. Also has the rare stat of kicking a goal from the kick out in defence, although a 150M penalty does help.

Cuz, I know you wanted to keep this quiet, but this achievement needs to be acknowledged and celebrated. You’ve been a remarkably consistent player for a very long time. Have a great day tomorrow and get a win to remember!
