Cougars Footy 2021 (C1 grade)
Round 15, Kalamunda V’s Wanbro Swans at Ray Owen Oval ?
The Cougars returned to their best last Saturday in round 15 as they comfortably beat the Warnbro Swans by 66 points.
Coach Fare would have stressed this was a chance to gain some form after a number of tough games against teams below us on the C1 ladder.
The Cougars dominated the match from the start, in the ruck and around the ground having 36 shots at goal compared to the Swans 10!
Unfortunately, 20 of those shots resulted in points which once again highlighted a problem we discussed in the round 10 report Kalamunda V’s Willetton, where our entry and efficiency in the forward line needed to improve.
That aside, our concentration improved in this game where players began to protect the ball-carrier and nominate one another in close encounters.
This game should give the Cougars the confidence to complete the remaining fixtures in winning form leading up to the finals.
Final score: Kalamunda: 16.20 – 116 Warnbro Swans: 8.2 – 50
Best players: The usual suspects, with special mention of a return to form by Joel Peters. Did he kick 3 ?
Bruce Glovers ‘Inconspicuous play and Dash’ of the day:
The “inconspicuous play of the day” occurred in the second quarter when Lachlan Huntly arrived late to a marking contest and managed to get a very good 2 handed tap away without incurring a free kick. The ball arrived neatly for Max Bradley who sent it well into the forward line.
The “dash of the day” did not belong to Brett v G. but to Adam Brescacin with a superb 3rd quarter clearing dash from half back line!
