Caution! – Round 14, 16 July High Wycombe V’s Kalamunda,

A word of Caution regarding this round …

In the last encounter with High Wycombe in round 5, I made the comment that the Bulldogs didn’t look as though they deserved their bottom position on the ladder as they gave a pretty good account of themselves in the first half of the game.

They ‘ran out of legs’ in the second half which provided an easy victory for us. Last Saturday they managed to beat Kingsley in the wet by 5 points which would have given them a lift and took them off the bottom of the ladder.

There is no doubt in my mind that they will be full of running tomorrow and looking forward to knocking us off!

My worry is we may take them too easily as a bottom side and get sucked into playing ‘Paddock’ footy, which has become a feature in some recent quarters mentioned in this blog

Paddock footy leads to injuries and we can’t afford any more at this stage of the season. We have been averaging a key player out each week which spoils our team balance. Let’s make sure that we play our ‘run and carry’ game to the finals and avoid getting bogged down on the flanks. Good luck and good hunting!
