The Kalamunda Cougars have commenced pre-season training in preparation for a successful season in the Perth Football League ‘B’ grade competition in 2026.
League coach Chris Bolton has started activity early with beach runs and general conditioning exercises held on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 6.30 PM at Kostera Oval in Kalamunda.
The number of players attending the sessions has been very encouraging.
Work to revitalise the Cougars home ground at Ray Owen Oval is now well under way with expansion of the playing surface incorporating improved drainage and reticulation.
Over past seasons the oval has been degraded in winter, owing to the the amount of sporting activity on its surface by the expanding Cougars Football Club who field 4 senior men’s side, a Colts under 20 side and a ladies team. Local school teams use the oval for training and athletic events with the oval being used for social events on Sundays.
It will be several months before the oval will be ready for sporting activity with the Football and Cricket clubs having to relocate to alternative grounds in the local area.

The pic above was taken during pre-season training in 2023 showing the ground condition before the winter started.
