‘In Pursuit of Common Sense’…

‘In Pursuit of Common Sense’

In response to Janet Albrechtsen’s article, pp17 The Weekend Australian, November 2-3, 2019

Andrew Cooper was caused to frown,

He’d received a letter from the top of town,

Concerning the delegates who had ‘come on down,’

To his conference, he’d hosted in Sydney Town’

‘Under section 45(2) you are legally bound,

To describe your delegates from out of town,’

It’s a serious offence not to comply,

With a maximum of six, time will not fly!

When Tony Abbott of political fame,

Was sent the same letter in similar vein,

He said ‘It’s a joke, from some Bureaucrat bloke,

And like Andrew, I’m off to complain’.

But the worst of this joke, which derides these two blokes,

So ‘down under’ we all look like fools,

Is the boffin’s inside,  oblivious to out-side,

When political correctness rules!

Now the Integrity and International Group,

Earned a full page for the ‘Inquirer’ scoop,

Made for good reading as Albrechtsen’s long leading,

It’s landed the FITS in the soup!

But isn’t it time that departments define,

Where the true threats are here in Australia,

As 45(2) and FITS with them to,

Will certainly lead to our failure.

Watto!

‘When laws can be used to target a former prime minister for speaking at a conservative conference in Sydney that includes foreigners, and a bloke who hosted the event because the co-host is from America, our closest ally in the free world, then the law is an ass. And bad laws in the hands of overzealous bureaucrats are even more chilling’.  Janet Albrechtsen.
