Round 13 Big milestones – Trent Pottinger 200 & Shane Neil 100

Round 13 milestones for two great team players …
Alex Haight, Reporting
Congratulations to Trent Pottinger who played his 200th league game for the Kalamunda Cougars in round 13 against Melville at Troy Park last Saturday.
Familiar sight of Trent in action …

Saturday also marked Trent’s 150th consecutive game as he has not missed a game since round 2 in 2016!

This is an unbelievable stat.  with incredible longevity, consistency and skill. His outstanding dedication and professionalism is a great example for younger players coming through the ranks.

Trent has won almost every accolade you can think of in a stellar career. One he is determined to add to his CV this year is becoming a premiership captain!

Well done Trent, the accolades continue to come. Is the 250th game not far away also?  As one of the clubs greats for a long time,  continue to go well  and lead from the front like you always do.

Congratulations  also to Shane Neil who played his 100th club game for the Cougars last Saturday when the thirds team played Bullcreek Leeming at Ray Owen reserve.
Shane in action …

Shane started his career at the cougars way back in 2014 after a good friend convinced him to come up to the mountain and have a few games.  He started in the 4ths and over the years put together consistent football rising through the grades to as high as A grade reserves under coach Bruce Mercer in 2018.

Shane was a huge part of the mid 2010s thirds team which came very close to the clubs first flag.

His two way power running and his willingness to get and help his teammates time and time again is one of the main reasons why he is loved by so many of his comrades. Shane suffered a devastating knee injury in 2021 which set him back a couple of years however he returned to the club this year and regained the passion! It’s fair to say he celebrates off field at an all time level and is one of the nicest blokes you’ll ever meet.

Congratulations Shano, it has been quite a journey with plenty of ups and downs over the years. Well done on your achievement and I’m sure there’s room for you to get up forward and kick a goal or two in the future

Many thanks to Don Benson photography for going back through the archives and finding these amazing photos.
