The last 10 years …
‘What do you think of the last decade?’
He quietly questioned me,
As we sat on the deck, with the sun on our back,
And a beer upon our knee,
‘Are we all changed by the boom and bust,
Or is this the end of the spree?
‘Or has this has been a decade of anxiety,
Do you think we’re really free?’
‘We’ve slower jobs growth and slower wage growth,
And our ‘pollies’ are not as we please!
And the changes they make from the front to the back,
Are enough to make one seethe!
We’ve had ballots and spills, with the appointment of dills,
And the electors are left out to freeze,
While our trading partners and neighbours say,
‘What in the Hell is happen here?’
Has Australia finally lost its way, with no interest in overseas,
‘Or will the next decade be finished and done,
While we’re still there, down on our knees?’
