Do not confront your enemy’s strong points. Rather, avoid them and remove the source of strength.
In the Warring States Period (476 – 221 B.C.) General Le, leading the army of Yan, captured more than 70 cities of Chi.
Chi was left with only two cities when Tian Dan who was defending one, realised that the enemies success was due to the great ability of General Le.
Tian Dan planted a rumour that Gen. Le was dragging his feet in conquering the last two cities, because he was planning to establish himself, as the King of Chi.
When this news reached the King of Yan, he replaced General Le. With Le out of the way, Tian Dan was then able to not only defeat the armies besieging his cities, but to go on and liberate the cities that Le had captured.
In today’s difficult business climate problems may arise with certain individuals.
Efforts can be made to remove or discredit these individuals once they have been identified.
