Another season over and we lament in retrospect,
The coaching plan and strategy, were they played to our very best?
As five times now our club has failed the good old finals test,
Or has it been our lack of training, or of tactics that are less,
It can’t be lack of coaching, our players say the best!
Or we’re just a team of ‘has-beens’ no better than the rest!
‘Injuries the coaches cried, they caused this bloody stress’,
With all our best unable to play, to pass the final test,
And far too few with fitness left to play our famous ‘Press’.
So yet again the tears and pain, of another sad season’s mess!
Now for most of us who know our footy well, be it amateurs or social,
Know that players come in random sizes and some of them are woeful,
Unlike the boys in the AFL with their size and running skills,
Who can kick a mile, handball with style, and give their fans a thrill,
The Pickering boys have to swallow their pride and refuse to play like dills!
The ‘Push’ for amateur coaches has been hailed as simply magic,
But for players coined in in random size, the results appear quite tragic,
Because laid down in Newtons third, of equal and opposite reaction,
Push can become ‘shove’ to a coaching plan with the resulting dissatisfaction!
Watto!
