‘Twanga’s 250th.

It is now time to acknowledge and celebrate Kalamunda Cougars royalty.
Club Champion Beau Barratt

Beau Barratt played game 250 for the club against Scarborough at Ray Owen reserve last Saturday! 5/08/2023

In my humble opinion, nobody has given more to the club on/off field than this man in my time.

He started his journey way back in 2008 after playing his junior footy at Forrestfield. A tremendous leader and incredibly hard worker who leads by example and embodies the values and spirit that inspires his teammates to go into battle each week. Strong in the contest, his ability to win the ball time and time again and power through stoppages onto that trusty left foot is something to behold.

Twanga in action

In 2010 he showed maturity beyond his years, putting his hand up to join the committee at the age of 20 and do whatever he could to help out behind the scenes. Proved to be a massive year for him being awarded club person of the year and winning his first flag with the Reserves team. The following year in 2011 he had a setback, suffering from a frightening broken neck injury which held him from playing for the rest of that season and half of the next year. But even with this, you would still see him up at the club regularly as if nothing had happened. Always there Thursday and Saturday night supporting the club wherever he could.

Became captain of the Reserves team in 2013 and rightfully held this honour for many years. After being on the committee for 6 years, decided to take on the vice president role in 2016/2017 and then stepped up to become president in 2018 to 2020. He accomplished so much in that time, revamping and upgrading the facilities to what we have today, starting the women’s team in 2020 and organising so many events that made the club an amazing place to be. After playing game 200 in 2020 alongside his great mate Royce Knight he was quite rightly awarded life membership at years end.

Well done ‘Twanga’ you are one of the all-time greats of the club and one of the most respected. Thank you for all you have done over the years and making the club a great place to be!
