Where art thou now Alexei?
What are you doing in a corrective colony, for another 19 years?
Could it be the peoples protests, that provoked the voice of fear,
Or the rumbling mass of discontent, that the emperor wouldn’t hear.
And how could you be sentenced in a trial that was a sham,
Making Vladimir happy, when he heard your cell door slam.
And can you tell us Alexei, why you’re barred from future elections,
Was anti-corruption the people’s choice and hope of your selection.
Could it be the Moscow mayoral elections caused this running fear,
As leader of the Future party you had shifted to top gear.
Tell us Alexi, was it Vladimir that mixed the poisoned chalice,
As Novichok it seems to be, his favored choice of malice.
And on return from Germany did you know you would be detained,
Accused of violating parole conditions, the sentencing, the blame,
Leading to a prison sentence, with 30 months of pain,
And all your followers liquidated, the emperor’s greatest gain!
And while in a German hospital that made your followers grieve,
The emperor and his ruling party used this time to seize,
Your comments that their party was; ‘A party of crooks and thieves’,
And you as leader of the Future Party, would stamp-out corruption and sleaze!
Now Alexi in a new trial, for embezzlement and contempt of court,
Amnesty International confirming a certain rort,
Imprisoned for another 9 years, for what appeared a tort?
With another 19 on extra charges, how appeals in Russia are fraught!
And now in an Arctic corrective colony, where the struggle for life is naught.
And now we’re told of your demise, this comes as no surprise,
As emperors back in ancient times, executed rivals who defied,
And told the people they would be fine, all they needed was just a sign, to rise and rid them of the emperors bind.
How hard will it be for the emperor now,
Will international sanctions make him bow?
Or will he remain as an emperor vain, subjecting his people to the economic pain,
The fruits of this tyrant’s long dreadful reign.
Rest assured Alexei your sacrifice hasn’t failed,
The deeds and hates of the tyrants soon pale,
As the statutes of heroes rise-up from the graves,
To inspire all that honor them, to seek better ways.
Wattto!
In December 2023, Navalny went missing from prison for almost three weeks. He re-emerged in an Arctic Circle corrective colony in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.[14][15] On 16 February 2024, the Russian prison service reported that Navalny had died at the age of 47.[16][17] His death sparked protests, both in Russia and in various other countries, and accusations against the Russian authorities in connection with his death, have been made by Western governments and international organisations.
