Congratulations to Laura Hewitt who played her 50th game for the Kalamunda Cougars. The girls aimed to make it three wins in a row when they took on Coolbelup at the home of football Ray Owen reserve. Unfortunately they lost, however had a lot of fun!
Laura is a fierce combative competitor with that white line fever you can’t teach. She doesn’t take a backward step and backs up her team mates no matter what. She is a great leader with character who has been captain, vice captain and part of the leadership group almost every year since the beginning.
Laura is 6th all time in career goals for the women’s team, has a strong work ethic and is a terrific person to have around the club. She is also not shy of letting the opposition crowd know who’s boss.
Well done Laura, a massive effort getting to this milestone. One of persistence and determination.
Congratulations also to Austin Leaver who will played his 100th club game for the Kalamunda Cougars. at Ray Owen reserve against the Mosman Park Mosquitoes.
Austin’s Cougars career started back in 2018.
Playing for Kalamunda is in his DNA, being a third generation to play for the club. He is a courageous player who leads by example putting the team first. he is as tough as nails around the contest, smart decision maker with ball in hand and is able to read the play well.
He has taken his game to another level through his leadership, voted as vice captain and captain for the reserves team. Austin has achieved runner up best and fairest in the Alex Keefe medal in 2019 (thirds) and in the Brian Quartermaine medal in 2022 (reserves). He is very lively up forward with 23 goals since the beginning of 2023.
Well done Aussie, it’s been impressive to see you rise through the ranks and grow into the great leader you’ve become. continue to get the wins for the black and white!
