Congratulations to Ben Harffey ‘Barbie’ who played his 100th game for the Hawks recently, a tribute by Mike Fox

‘Barbie’ is a true legend of the club whose contributions both on and off the field are huge.
Pretty much all the jobs in a football club you can imagine, he has accomplished.
Over the seasons he has been a Manager, vice president, umpire, water, sponsor and uniforms to name a few!
Ben has been a regular contributor to this blog through his reports over past seasons covering matches, player milestones and regular reports from the Hills Football association where he was awarded Life Membership in 2022. He is also a Life Member of the Pickering Brook Hawks and a regular player of the ‘Roos’ senior brigade.
We wish him well for the future and thank him for his huge contribution to the success of our club.

The Footy Focus back in publication …
We were pleased to see the new link to Club Shop recently who are now publishing the Footy Focus for the Hills Football Association. We reported in May 2022 it was unfortunate the ‘Footy Focus’ the official program of the Hills Football Association, that was available on match days, would not be printed again this year because of its cost. We were told the gate fees we pay to attend matches in the HFA, were not enough to cover to the cost of printing the program!
This was disappointing, as it made it very hard for supporters and spectators to keep up with the playing lists and read the latest news regarding their clubs and the other interesting statistics the publication contained.
The ‘Focus’ also displayed the outstanding support of club sponsors and their contribution to the strength and future of the HFA.
The Focus also enabled each club to publish it’s weekly match reports and fundraising efforts to support worthy causes such as cancer research, mental health issues and other social events.
Club Shop now allows clubs to benefit from the sale of merchandise, specifically produced to their clubs requirements. In terms of a budget, club’s no longer needs to outlay large amounts of money to purchase large quantities of stock that ends up sitting around gathering dust. There is also no need for stock takes or the worry of where the stock is when a new committee is appointed.
Club Shop advises clients can choose the products, where they customise them to suit.
- Club Shop also handles the sales, paperwork and delivery then supplies the profits directly to your club with statement and payment.
-
they advise there are no locked in contracts!
