Two Preliminary Finals, Saturday 5th September 2026
In the two finals played in this preliminary round, the Colts took on North Fremantle at Gill Fraser Reserve and despite a brave battle lost to the Magpies by 45 points. This was a great effort by the Cougars who had finished the home and away season in 5th position.
The Magpies will take on Swan Athletic in the Grand final; the Swan’s have been undefeated this season!
Final scores: North Fremantle 10.9 – 69, Kalamunda 3.6 – 24
In the second game at Harmony Field the E2 Allstar Cougars made up for their loss to Coolbinia last week by 4 points to beat Nollamara by 26 points and earn a place in the Grand Final against Coolbinia next week.
This will be another tough encounter, where the Cougars will once again be relying on their veterans who have reached top form at the right time of the season. Much will depend on forwards Blair Southcott and Angelo Vallis to repeat their excellent efforts in this game.
Other players to stand out in this game were Ryan Mercer and Liam Abbotsford who with skipper Braydon Becker were consistent all day.
The experience of Royce Knight, Ryan Mercer and Alex Haight will be invaluable in next Saturdays Grand Final to maintain concentration and composure in the younger members of this side. We wish them well!
Final score: Kalamunda 12.6 – 78, Nollamara 8.4 – 52.
