Two Grand Finals, Saturday 12th September 2026
Our Colts side after the disappointing loss to North Fremantle in the Semi-Final last week were buoyed with the news that North had been disqualified from playing in the Grand Final at HIF Health Insurance Oval in Joondalup.
This announcement ended an interesting week that finishing with a great opportunity to play a Grand Final in B grade. Coach Damon Witcombe summed up the opportunity saying the Colts had put in a full season of hard work and now had a second chance to wipe the slate keen and have a red-hot crack at Swan Athletic, who have been undefeated all season.
(Unfortunately the Colts went down to Swan Athletic by 35 points in the GF. further reports to come.)
Two great clubmen Angelo Vallis and Blair Southcott had a chance to celebrate milestones in the E2 Allstars Grand Final against Coolbinia at Claremont Oval.

The most remarkable thing about this Grand Final, it ended in a draw at full time!
A tie-break was then initiated where both teams were allocated 5 minutes each to break the deadlock. The Cougars managed to kick 2 points in the first 5 minutes and then a goal by Blair Southcott in the second 5 minutes before the Falcons replied with a goal late in the term, to leave the Cougars winners of the flag!
The game started in fine conditions with the Falcons kicking the first two goals quickly, until the Cougars regained composure kicking 1.4 to be two points behind at quarter time. This set the scene for the rest of the match as both sides struggled and fumbled their way through the game with skill errors that frustrated their large crowd of supporters.
The Cougars were 4 points ahead at half time and had many opportunities to seal the game as they had most of the play in their forward line. In the third quarter, both sides played ‘paddock’ football which at times became comical and led to some very strange umpiring decisions. Nevertheless the Cougars were in front by one point at the last break.
In the final term it appeared there were some very tired players on Claremont Oval as the skill level of both teams fell even further and with it the umpiring confidence, which at that stage was beginning fail helped by the vocal crowd! The siren indicated the result, which I have described and the crowd rushed on to the field to congratulate their champions!
This was not the best game of football we have seen, but from an entertainment point of view it was great and our E32 Allstars are to be congratulated on a huge effort this season.
Final score: Kalamunda 4.12 – 36, Coolbinia 5.4 – 34.

Massive congratulations to Angelo Vallis who became the ninth player in our club history to reach 250 games for the Kalamunda Cougars. What better way to bring up a milestone by playing it in the biggest game of the year. The thirds team playing in a grand final against the Coolbinia Falcons at Revo Fitness Stadium in Claremont.
Angelo is a cheeky and very crafty small forward. He has always seemed to have this uncanny ability to work his way out of traffic and find his way through tight spaces. His evasive skills make him a real threat to any defence and time and time again hits the scoreboard and creating options for his teammates.
Angelo started his career up at the mountain way back in 2008, where he was part of a very strong colts team coming through the ranks. In 2009 in his last game as a colt, he made his first grand final appearance against Gosnells in what would be a heartbreaking loss and day for the club.
The following year brought new expectations and goals that he knew could be reached and were within his grasp. He debuted for the club’s league side and playing the role of small forward, and generated a spark, creating energy and excitement. Angelo went on to play in a second consecutive grand final in the reserves and kicked a goal at a crucial point in the game. He was awarded best on ground in the epic win against an undefeated Scarborough team in one if not the most celebrated days in club history with colts, reserves and league all triumphing on the big stage.
Angelo finished third in the reserves best and fairest count and was awarded most consistent player after a great season.
In the years to come Angelo would go on to represent the club in all grades, including a club record 172 games at reserves level. This, a sign of a person who isn’t fussed on what level he is playing but is willing to play wherever he is needed. He comes from a teaching background and was assistant coach for the colts in 2017. This may be something that interests him when his playing days are done.
Well done Angelo, amazing achievement to get to 250 games and something that you should be bloody proud of. That cheeky grin and joy that you play with each and every week brings smiles to teammates and supporters alike. Have a great Grand Final, let’s get the job done, glory is awaiting!!
Congratulations also to Blair Southcott who will played his 150th game for the Kalamunda Cougars against Coolbinia. What better way to celebrate a milestone than on the biggest stage in a grand final. The thirds team played at 4:35pm against the Coolbinia Falcons at Revo Fitness Stadium in Claremont. Another huge day for the club!
Blair is one of the best in the business being a powerful key forward with strong hands, capable of taking the big contested mark and a very accurate set shot for goal. He may seem like a very relaxed character but make no mistake, he is as competitive as they come. He Debuted for the club way back in 2015 in the colts, quickly catching the attention of league coach Gary Armstrong. From there got the opportunity to play league football in just his second game at the age of 18 and was voted best young talent in his first season.
As the years went on, he became a mainstay of the league side being someone who could play at both ends of the ground as a crucial player to the teams structure. Blair represented his state in the under 23s WAAFL competition and now has over 100 Kalamunda league games to his name. Has had a difficult couple of years and missed a lot of football with back to back knee reconstructions. But his willpower, determination and never say die attitude has got him back on top of his game. this has been a remarkable effort and a great example to any player to never give up and what you can achieve if you put the hard work in.
Well done ‘Southy’, it’s been amazing to see you back at your best this year and I’m sure you’ll be fired up for the Grand Final. Let’s get the job done and bring a flag back up the hill to Kalamunda!!
