  Finals round 2 2025, Kalamunda V’s Melville

As stated in our last report regarding the results of C1 Final Round 1, the Cougars will face a tough opponent in the Melville Rams who won the round against Kwinana by 15 points.

The Cougars after having a week off after finishing on top of the PFL ladder should be freshened up and ready to take on the Rams who will be full of confidence after defeating the Knights.

As can be seen from Ian Eldred’s fine photo, a large crowd attended the 3 finals scheduled for this round in perfect weather conditions.

Unfortunately, the Cougar Colts and C1 Reserves side lost their games, with the Colts going down to Gosnells by 8 points in an unexpected loss. The reserves out of character, lost to Hamersley Carine by 16 points!

Both sides have been on top of their respective ladders since the beginning of the season and will need to play off in preliminary finals next week.

The C1 League side saved the day by winning their game against Melville by 34 points!

Tough Times for the Rams…!

This win was not indicative of the control the Cougars had during this game as they had 30 scoring opportunities compared to Melville’s 11 during the game.

Melville were on the shadow of a side that played Kwinana last week at Melville reserve, where they won a tough game by 15 points.

Melville will now face Hamersley Carine in a preliminary final next Saturday and judging by Hamersley’s win over Kwinana by 43 points, they could be deemed the underdog for this final!

Yes B grade next season! ..

The Cougars won this game playing team football, with hard running and tackling. The huge advantage Melville had in the ruck against the Kwinana Knights last week was nullified with splendid work from Cormac White and Jack Amos setting up the Cougar attack, which although in complete control throughout the match was very inaccurate!

Coach Bolton was thrilled by the performance saying it was a ‘Team effort in a System used Game’, qualifying the Cougars to play in the ‘B’ grade competition next season.
