In answer to the Embargo …

‘The Embargo’

‘Who is this man’, the young players asked,
Looking at honor boards of deeds long passed,
With 500 wickets and runs at first class,
The stories of Carlton, ‘they say he was fast,
And AFL medal counts, Let’s hear of his past!
But the club’s news editor, had other intentions,
An embargo placed was beyond comprehension,
And the champion was served with a season suspension,
With fun and games banned and much apprehension!
So, to finally answer the youngster’s pleas,
The Old Boys set this embargo free,
And named the ‘Joker’ for all to see,
That famous old star, the great Joseph Glee!
