Round 13, Melville V’s Kalamunda at Melville Reserve
In Round 4 this season Melville were sitting one spot below the Cougars on the PFL ladder by percentage, with both sides yet to post a victory for this season. Since then, the Cougars have moved to 7th position on the ladder, with 5 wins while the Rams have yet to win a game. In the past there has been great rivalry between the clubs as they played off in last seasons Grand Final and should never be taken lightly when the chips are down.
With the loss to Cockburn Lakes last game by 1 miserable point, the Cougars came out and demolished a very undermanned Rams side by 121 points!
Not a great deal can be said about this win, other than Tyler Mouritz kicked 13 goals in a great performance. He was assisted with an impressive team effort in this achievement, with all players contributing.
The only down-side to the day was a serious ankle injury to Jarrad Young who had to be helped off the field.
The Reserves side also had a convincing win over the Rams, who were a physical side lacking the fundamentals of effective play.
Our Colts who are sitting in 7th spot, had a battle on their hands going down to Melville by 35 points who currently occupy 3rd position on the ladder.
With the retirement of a number of senior players, Melville will be looking forward to a revival in the future with their promising Colts players.
The ladies C1 side also consolidated their 5th position with a 9-point win over Swan Valley.
Final scores: (B grade) Kalamunda 25.12 – 162, Melville 5.11 – 41

Congratulations to Michael De Gasperis who played his 50th game for the Kalamunda Cougars this Saturday in round 13.
Michael is a young superstar on the rise who is a very talented two way running midfielder and big game player who plays the game at a level way beyond his years. Already with an impressive CV bigger than Ben Hur that includes: 2024 colts association B&F, 2024 colts B&F. League debut at 19 years old, 2025 colts association B&F runner up, 2025 colts B&F runner up, 2025 colts premiership player, 2025 colts premiership best on ground.
Michael also was a representative in the EGT North vs South colts game.
Well done SUUUUUPPPPAAAA Gas, the level headedness and composure along with those silky smooth moves is a great watch from the sidelines. you had a belter in this round ruining Melville’s day with an epic performance!! Go well in the future.
