Cougars ‘Open Club’ 2026
The Cougars held their first official function last Friday evening at the Ray Owen Clubrooms to welcome new players and supporters.

Club President Brenton Lucas in his welcome wished everyone a successful season in view of the difficult situation the club faces this year with the unavailability of their home ground Ray Owen Oval.
The club has endured a difficult pre-season training regime being forced to train on grounds outside the City after some short term use of Kostera Oval. He said with only a couple of weeks before the season starts the club had no idea where they would play for future home games. This was despite regular meetings with the City of Kalamunda.
The main feature of the evening was the announcement of team captains and their leadership groups.
Ladies coach Steve Cheshire is looking forward to his first season with the club and is confident his team will do well in view of their skills improvement during pre season training. Damion Whitcombe (colts), Dean Mann (B Reserves) and Rob Gordon (Thirds) all expressed confidence for the coming season and support for Chris Bolton senior coach.

Senior Coach Chris Bolton summed up the best wishes of his coaching staff by saying that this was going to be a particularly difficult season in view of the clubs entry into B grade competition without a home ground. He added there would be hardship in managing training and pre-game preparation without clubrooms, storage and medical facilities on site. He urged his senior players, supporting staff and supporters to bear with this situation and make 2026 a successful season.
